Book Club
Meeting #3 was another success! In addition to wrapping
up the book, the kids and parents were introduced to a
beta version of a book club game developed by Dr. Kim.
The new game is called “Book Ends” and helps to add a nice playful tone to the book club meetings. The kids took turns rolling the dice and moving their avatars (game pieces,) around the board. As the kids navigated the board they would land on question blocks. There are two types of question blocks:
To conclude the meeting, the kids were each presented with an award for completing the book, and a Charter Member certificate. We look forward to the next Book Club Meeting which should take place in early August.
The next book that we will read is called “Chasing Vermeer” by Blue Balliet. Keep an eye on your emails for more information. And as this is a work in progress, please let us know if there is anything we can do to make the book club a better experience. For example Mrs. Smaglis had a great suggestion for creating a branch off of the existing club for the younger readers.
