Computer
Hardware
Students will learn about all the components that make up
today’s common computer. They will take a computer apart,
and put it back together, while learning about input and
output devices, operating systems, motherboards, storage,
and more.
Audio
The technology behind audio has grown from the use of tubes
to electronic circuits. Students will study the audio of
yesterday, today and the future (crystal, AM/FM, satellite,
Podcasts.) Students will create their own podcast based
radio show.
Kids
News Network
Students will learn about the technology behind running a
TV News Channel. The students will participate in acting,
sound engineer, director, camera operator, grip, producer,
and more. They will utilize tools such as green screen,
teleprompter, sound mixer, lights, and more.
Internet Basics
This class will teach students
how to use a computer for web browsing, email, instant
message, blogs, and skype (Voice over IP.) They will learn
how to use the web browsing for research and entertainment;
email to communicate with family and friends; instant
message to communicate in real time via text; read blogs
and create their own; use skype to talk with their family
and friends over the internet.
Computer Graphics
Students will learn how to use
technology to create Stop Motion and 2D/3D animation. They
will also learn how to use graphics for Presentations,
Slide Shows, and other documentation. Students will use
software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Modo, Lightwave,
Motion and After Effects.
Software Basics
This course will focus on the
core computer skills required for school and the business
world. Students will learn how to use word processor,
spreadsheet, presentation, and email software.
Video Editing
Students will learn how to take
video and audio footage to “cut a story.” Using tools such
as iMovie, FinalCut Pro, Motion, AfterEffects and
iStopmotion, students will take projects from start to
finish.
Sound Editing
Using several audio tools,
students will learn how to create and edit sound effects,
repair sound bytes, and edit sound to movie projects.
Students will use software such as Soundtrack Pro, Audio
Hi-Jack Pro, Fission, Wiretap Studio, and
more.
Media Creation &
Distribution
This course builds upon several
of the courses above. Here the students learn how to take
their completed audio and video projects and distribute
them. Students will learn how to distribute their projects
for use on the internet and iPods. They will learn how to
distribute via CD, DVD, HDVD and BluRay.
